Ski trip to Mission Ridge

Hey fellow Bushwhackers! Join other Bushwhackers for a weekend downhill ski/board trip to Mission Ridge near Wenatchee on Feb 27 & 28. Fellow Bushwhackers Randy & Megan Kile have graciously offered us their house & company in Wenatchee! So no hotel fees!

If you've never been to Mission Ridge Ski Area it's a nice, local place that's just a ton of fun with more great skiing terrain than you would think. And if you have been there you know what I mean.

The plan is to leave Seattle either Friday PM or early Saturday AM, ski/board both Sat & Sun, stay the nights at the Kiles house and, well, whatever else we can come up with in Wenatchee. We will return to Seattle Sunday evening. Once we have the list of folks going we can discuss the driving details.

Telemark Clinic Success

Thanks to everyone who helped me make the 2010 BWCC Telemark Clinic a huge success!

 
This year we had five determined and stoic students who not only braved the elements of ice and snow storms, but also learned to link free heel turns with grace! Everyone's progress in the sport was amazing and Shauna and I had great time teaching. Thanks Andy, Kathy, Judd, Rebecca, and Kate! See all you Bushwhackers on the slopes!

Half Done with the Telemark Class

Philip S had five of us Bushwhackers doing the Tele Tango with him yesterday over at Summit West at Snoqualmie.  We had a new member, a few regulars, and some old friends who are looking to get back into the mountains with us try their hand at freeing their heels.  It was awesome seeing the improvement in everyone.  Thanks to Shauna M and Philip for taking time to show us how to look good out there.  Looking forward to next Sunday!

 

UPDATE:  The class finished successfully with some nice snow coming down the entire afternoon.  It was a great class.

Club Discount at the OR Company Store

I just learned from Jeremy Park over at Outdoor Research that Bushwhacker members get a discount on full priced Outdoor Research and non-Outdoor Research products at the OR Retail Store.  The discount is 15% for OR products and 10% for non OR products. 

How is that for a deal?  Grab a friend and head on down to the OR Retail Store.  Just tell them you are a friend of Doxey's and if that doesn't work mention the Bushwhackers.

Mt Catherine Loop Outing

On Sunday Feb 28, 2010 Fred R is going to lead a cross country outing. The destination is the Mt. Catherine Loop, 10.5 miles of track skiing fun.  More details to come!!!

2010 Basic Glacier Climbing Course Dates Set

The club has just set the dates for the Basic Glacier Climbing Course for the 2010 season.  They are published on the course page.  Look for the registration to begin in February.   Follow along with the progress here or if you're a member, look for updates in your email.  Go out and tell all your friends and family!  We're looking forward to getting out into the mountains with some new friends!

Milkshake Madness!

It's that time of year again, time for MILKSHAKE MADNESS!  Yes, folks, Milkshake Madness returns for it's 15th year in a row, January 9 in Wallingford.  Come for shakes, come for friends, come for slides, or just come to raid the host's fridge.  

Ice cream will be provided.  Bring a small basket of fruit to flavor shakes, if you prefer beer you can bring that, a bottle of that chocolate syrup stuff would be good, or just walk in the door with a smile.  Bring a friend or a foe, either way we'd like to meet them.

People will start arriving at 6:00 to set up, blenders will start at 6:30, and the slideshow will start at 7:30.  Club members, watch your email for directions.  Non-club members, if you would like an invitation, just email us at bwcc_information "at" bushwhackerclimbingclub "dot" org.
