Shawn Chriest gives Doug Yates a tour of Shawn's "backyard" in Chugach State Park near Eagle River, Alaska. Shawn's house is just over the cliff edge in the background and about 1,000 feet straight down.
Camp at 7,800 feet with Mt. Francis and the Kahiltna Glacier in the background. The team is preparing to make the haul to 10,000 feet where we will cache and return to camp at 7,800 feet.
Bad weather at 11,000 feet. We were stuck here for two days.
Lower Kahiltna and Mt. Foraker from the "edge of the world" at approximately 1 mile to the east of the 14,000 foot camp.
Fred Redmon at 16,200 feet and still smiling.
Looking up towards the south summit from our camp at 17,000 feet. Summit is not visible in this photo. Denali Pass is just to the left.
The team at the end of the climb with Denali's south summit in the background. From left - Fred Redmon, Sheryl & Shawn Chriest and Doug Yates. Back at Base Camp we were happy but tired and looking forward to dinner at the "West Rib" in Talkeetna. We had been on the mountain three weeks to the day we originally flew in.
