February 2006 Archives

Well I'm so excited I'm just beside myself. Our buddy Seth Pollack has a photograph published in Alpinist magazine this month - a full two-page spread! The stunning photograph of Alaska's Mount Bradley was taken a few years ago in the Ruth Gorge. Light and shadow accentuate the snow flutings and sheer rock walls. The awesome face of Bradley soars thousands of feet into the brilliant blue sky. Don't miss it!

And in case you haven't seen it recently, visit the Seth Pollack Photography website. Its fantastic! Way to go Seth! smile.gif

The Board of Directors is set to meet Wednesday night March 1. Please let us know if you have items that you wish the Board to discuss. Email us at information@bushwhackerclimbingclub.org.

Lots of plans for outings!

Your Bushwhacker friends are makin' plans! I know of plans for a winter ascent of Mt R, a climb of Mt Blum, and a May ascent of Denali. In addition, there is a possibility of rock climbing in March at Red Rocks, and a couple of us are going to Joshua Tree for rock climbing in April. And we're definitely up for standards like The Tooth and Ingalls Peak once things warm up a bit. Summertime will bring lots of climbs, including Logan and Mt Rainier.

Club Night = Map Night!

This month our Club Night will be a Map Night at Jim's place in Issaquah. Bring your maps and guidebooks, and create outings or join in on some. We've done this before and its always fun!

UPDATE: We had ten Bushwhackers there, going over maps, digging through guidebooks, and creating outings. Good times!

Thursday nights at Snoqualmie

A bunch of us are going telemark skiing at Snoqualmie on Thursday nights. This is not a class or anything, just friends from the club headin' up on Thursdays after work - join us!

UPDATE: Well, conditions were not as classic as last Thursday huh.gif But, what the heck, there were a lot of us there and that made it fun! Frederic, Esther, Philip, Jim and his daughter Christine, Doxey, Randy, Lisa, Carla, Chad, Joe and Laurie - wow, there were Bushwhackers scattered all over the place! laughing.gif

Plans for the Bushwhacker Outdoor Photography Course are underway, and the information page is now posted. Registration for the course will begin in February. This course was a big hit last year and promises to be fun and educational.

UPDATE: Registration for the Outdoor Photography Course has opened! See the Outdoor Photo course page.
