Steve M published in Backcountry Magazine
January 25, 2006
Be sure to have a look at the February issue of Backcountry Magazine. In the photography section, Spectacle, you'll see a spectacular photo by Bushwhacker Stephen Matera. Way to go Steve!
On the Backcountry Magazine website they have an image of the cover to better help you find that issue. That issue also has a cool article about Fred Beckey's ski experiences in the North Cascades - check it out!

Avalanche Gear Presentation
January 24, 2006
Tuesday night January 24, 7:00pm - Avalanche Gear Presentation at Feathered Friends - This presentation will introduce us to the gear related to avalanche recovery - transceivers, probes and shovels. Presentation at Feathered Friends.
UPDATE: I just came from the presentation - it was really good. We had eight Bushwhackers in attendance, and Eddie at FF was knowledgable and very likable. We took at look at the latest gear and Eddie had some points that we hadn't before considered. Good stuff!

Kendall Knob
Hiked up Kendall Knob yesterday. Snow showers and sunshine, beautiful conditions for snowshoeing. I hiked with old friends and made some new ones. Kendall Knob ain't exactly Mt Everest but it was a great day in the mountains with good people. Yay!

Updated club website is now a webblog!
January 13, 2006
Today we announce another significant upgrade to the club website. The site is now a webblog. On first glance it may appear to be a merely cosmetic alteration, but actually the change is much more fundamental and functional.
Blogs allow an author to create entries without specialized software, and entries can be made from anywhere on the internet. In addition, we can and will have multiple authors. Another common feature of blogs is the ability of readers to post comments to entries - good stuff!
The old Bushwhacker Newsletter site is now defunct, but the trip reports, feature articles and yes, even the restaurant reviews will be brought forward to this new webblog site. That effort is underway.
There are other bells and whistles on the site, and even more cool stuff is in the works. I hope you enjoy this new site for our club.

Happy New Year!
January 04, 2006
Happy New Year everyone! Lots of happenings in our community and opportunities for the club in 2006. It occurs each year that things slow down in November and December, then pick up again in January. I think you'll see that cycle contine, as several announcements will be forthcoming in the coming days and weeks. 2006 promises to be be the biggest year yet for our club!

Bushwhacker Fundraiser follow-up
January 03, 2006
You may remember that in April 2005 we held a homebrew/potluck fundraiser for Sam Hill crag. The money was raised to support the successful effort to purchase this property in Icicle Canyon. That night more than nine-hundred bucks was put in the jar, and with other Bushwhacker member donations we raised more than one thousand dollars.
You can visit the Washington Climbers Coalition website to get the full story, and note the nice reference to our club on their page. Thanks to all that participated!
